Privacy
We built HangTrace and this website with a minimal-data mindset. This page explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Download counting: When you download a file, we store a salted hash of your IP address (not the raw IP), a timestamp (UTC), and a truncated user-agent string.
- No accounts: We do not require logins or collect profiles.
Why we collect it
- To show a simple download counter and track basic release adoption.
- To reduce inflated counts: the counter is limited to one download per (file, hashed IP, day).
What we do not do
- No selling of personal data.
- No targeted advertising based on personal identity.
- No tracking pixels by default.
Retention
Download events may be kept for operational analytics. You can request deletion of hashed entries, but note we cannot reverse a hash into a real IP.
